Brazilian supermodel Adriana Lima is a veteran in the modelling circuit. Post signing up with Elite Model Management, Adriana fronted her first magazine cover at the age of seventeen – that of Marie Claire Brazil, and she has also walked the ramp for famed labels, such as Christian Dior, Victoria’s Secret (the brand that perhaps contributed to her fame the most), Prada, Versace and Emilio Pucci. Adriana Lima is often included in the fold of highest paid celebrities, and since late 2015, after football star Pelé, she’s only the second Brazilian to have a wax figure of herself at Madame Tussauds (New York).Embed from Getty Images
As a Latina, Adriana has a very traditional body image, one that is beautifully bronze and voluptous, and she is also regarded as one of the ‘sexy models’. With age, Adriana does not expect to quit modelling because she sees this period of her life as an exciting prospect – I think it’s very grand Adriana aspires to prove that getting older on the runway (she’s thirty-five) doesn’t always have to spell retirement.
Growing up for Adriana in Brazil meant not being culturally inclined towards using sunscreen products even though it is so hot all the time – I can relate with that. I personally never see the point of that atypical Western way of looking at constant sunshine and scrambling to get me some sunscreen, until the heat gets way too much to handle.
Adriana’s fitness regime consists of boxing – a habit she has cultivated over a decade and with passing time she gets more and more serious about her workouts. Once Adriana was also the butt of criticism, which I couldn’t figure out why, because of her diet habits as a Victoria’s Secret model because she would prep for it with the help of nothing but protein shakes.
Although, this kind of a diet regimen was only for that one show every year for the label, there is no doubt that the preparation is athletic and intense. It makes me wonder if reasons such as these are why senior models, like Cindy Crawford and Linda Evangelista are tougher to spot on the modelling circuit, after a point in time – maybe including clarified butter on veg often, began to sound more appealing; Adriana’s guilty food of choice is chocolate molten cake but I doubt she likes to pig out on it much occasionally, given her supermodel credentials, which even though is such a high-strung fact-in-life, is still inspirational.
