In an atmosphere of seasonal parties, there is Karlie Kloss running around winning the top honours as the highest earning supermodel this year. It’s surprising, to say the least: Karlie came third because the gold obviously went to that much older supermodel, Gisele Bundchen. But still winning third is definitely no easy feat. Karlie beat out Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne and Lily Aldridge, and it isn’t so hard to figure out why because the twenty-four year old scored more fashion campaigns than most – her career chart reads like she’s modelled for a who’s who of brands, from Swarovski to Carolina Herrera (for the brand’s amazing nouveau perfume, ‘Good Girl’).
Besides all of that, Karlie also aspires to have bright credentials as a supermodel: she is learning how to code, she knows about Alan Turing and space, and she knows how to keep her friends tight. One of the most talked about friendships Karlie has ever had is the one she shares with Taylor Swift. I have to admit, I am not a follower of the whole ‘girl squad’ lingo that is happening out here, the leader of which I presume would be Taylor but is the friendship even remotely real, or is it an entirely put-on celebrity camaraderie? Karlie divulges that Taylor is good to watch films with – woah! Different strokes make different folks – I like me-time with my favourite films! Despite my chatterbox credentials, it’s a healthy private space…somewhat!
Taylor’s ‘girl squad’ includes names such as Kendall Jenner, Selena Gomez and Chloe Sevigny, as well, so how does Karlie manage to make herself feel counted over there. I am going to just go out there and guess it is something like this:

Karlie is an inspirational figure herself for all of that alone because as a supermodel she knows how to strike the balance between work and play, filled with good times and memorable moments. Other than that, what is amazing is that as a supermodel Karlie also has term papers to think about (she is learning coding at Flatiron School) and this rings in late nights for her sometimes, where it is like a little bit of a dash from the RC to a last minute attempt to wrap up homework – those can be horrid! It’s always good to have some kind of planning thrown in for your daily activities, as such. Karlie is enjoying it immensely though because as a supermodel she was always a sucker for science and now she amazingly gets to be a part of both worlds.
