For the Resort 2015 Collection for Fashion Week in India, there was a lot of diversity at display but when we are talking about modern couture in India, what is it that we are talking about?
Tom Tailor is one of those heritage brands you can never get enough of in Europe. Based in Hamburg, since 1962, the fashion label is all about rocking casual in a very trendy way. Their classic designs for Resort, which are very popular here, was all about black and more black in India. Their launch in India, coincides with an appeal towards foreign markets, which in the past counted Netherlands and Austria as big shopping hotspots.
Digitally India has become a huge fashion market so Tailor’s first ever Resort offering for the catwalk in India, aims to commemorate all of that + more. Tailor feels that the fashion industry in India has a lot of potential, and I naturally agree, so this feels like a launch that has most certainly been worth the hype the brand likes to always be a part of.
On the other side of things, regionally there was a lot of creativity on exhibit. Wendell Rodricks got inspired by pop-prints and did them in bright hues – think modern eveningwear or something to wear to the beach. The cuts had a fun ‘80s/60′s mix, and was quite wild and free in places too. Colours went from burnt orange to olive green, in a matter of moments, for linen capri pants and fun silk dresses.
